News From The Blue Room.

Dear Parents

Firstly we would like to thank all parents who came to our open evening, we really enjoyed the opportunity to talk to you and show you around Blue Room. If you were unable to attend or would like a Parent chat with your key worker before your child moves to Purple Room then please arrange a convenient time with them.

We are pleased to inform parents that in Blue Room we are officially working to the Early Years Foundation Stage. This is a new curriculum set out by Ofsted that has to be in place in all nurseries by Sept 2008. There will be a slight change in the appearance of our parent’s board as we will no longer plan themes or group times. We will be working much more with the individual child and planning their own group time to meet their needs and development stages. This will be called their ‘Learning Journey’ which will run alongside the familiar profile.

For the Early Years Foundation Stage to succeed we have also made some changes in the room, we now have 10 separate areas for the children to move between. These areas are set out for continuous provision throughout the day and include creative, mark making, quiet corner, maths / fine motor, construction, small world, a permanent home corner for role play, sand and water. The children also have access to Blue Room’s garden throughout the day. Within these areas the children have access and a choice to the basic provision at all times. This is displayed on our parents board in the form of photographs with the area clearly named. Along with planning for your individual child we will also plan an enhancement for each area for the week.

If you have any questions or would like more information then please don’t hesitate to talk to your child’s Key worker.

In September all the children from Blue Room will be moving to Purple Room. Your child will remain with their peers as they will be in the same year group when they start school.

We are planning an open evening on the 22nd of July and would like to take this opportunity to invite all parents to meet their child’s key worker for September and the other staff in Purple Room including our newly appointed Team Leader/Deputy Manager, Carol Dorrington.

Blue Room would also like to thank parents for their support, understanding and kind words in Laura’s absence. She is making steady process and we look forward to having her back at work as soon as she is well enough. (If any of Laura’s key parents have any concerns please talk to any member of staff in Blue Room.)

We would also like to wish Claire Br all the best in her new job and give her our best wishes for the future. We have enjoyed having Claire in the Bourne Valley Team and would like to thank her for all her hard work. Her last day will be 1st August, we are currently recruiting and will let you know who will be joining the team.

We are looking forward to a fun filled and very exciting Summer.

The Blue Room Team.

Lorran, Sarah, Claire and Laura
