Staffing News

Text Box: Congratulations
Our Congratulations go to Claire and her new husband, Steve, as they ‘tied the knot’ in sunny Florida on 15th May 2008. We welcomed the new Mrs Stoackley back from her wonderful honeymoon and it was great to catch up and see all the beautiful photographs of their special day.

We would also like to congratulate Susan and Nadine who are both expecting babies, Nadine in December and Susan in January. We are all so happy for them and their families and look forward to meeting the little ones for lots of cuddles.
Goodbye and Good luck!
On a sadder note we said farewell to Kate at the end of last term. Kate has decided on a different career path and is swapping cooking to begin her training to become a midwife. Kate has been a wonderful member of the Bourne Valley team and both the staff and the children will miss her very much. We wish her the best of luck for her future studies.
Welcome
We have recently recruited two new cooks for the kitchen. They will be taking over from Kate, who is moving on and Claire and Nadine – who will be joining the purple room team over the next term.
We would like to welcome both Jacqui and Sue to the Bourne Valley Team. Jacqui will be working on Mondays, Tuesdays and Wednesdays and Sue will be in the kitchen on Thursdays and Fridays. Both bring a wealth of experience with them and we look forward to tasting some of their creations! We hope they both enjoy their time with us.

We would like to say a great big thank you to Porton Pets and Aquatics for their kind donations for our gardening role play box. They have been a fantastic new resource and the children have had great fun using and exploring them.

News from the Rooms

Green Room

We have been busy exploring different areas of the world through our theme ‘A Visit to..’ So far we have journeyed through the rainforest and ventured to the Arctic! Our latest expedition has been trekking through the desert. We have enjoyed doing many different activities, from creating snow and sand pictures for the wall to playing with wild animals and ice! Our gardening afternoons have been going well and we have managed to create our new vegetable patch. We have planted our runner beans and have built them a frame to grow up - hopefully we will be adding tomato plants too very soon!

Blue Room

We have had a lovely term, firstly exploring our Spring Garden and then moving on to different forms of transport. This included things that travel on the land, water and also in the sky.

After half-term we look forward to putting into place Continuous Provision, this is in preparation for introducing the new Early Years Foundation Stage to Blue Room. We will be holding an open evening at the start of July and this will be a lovely opportunity for you to come and look at the new areas around the room and at new resources that have been purchased to enhance your child’s play.

Text Box: We have been enjoying the warm weather and having fun outside!

Purple Room

We welcome back Claire from her honeymoon and would like to congratulate her and her new husband Steve. We have had a lovely time this term in Purple Room, exploring our people who help us story books, we learnt all about Fred the Fire-fighter, Tess the Teacher, Sam the Chef, Daisy the Doctor and Frank the Farmer. Our role plays included the ‘Bourne Valley Bistro’, where we had great fun taking orders and cooking in our kitchen and our most recently a classroom, where we have been creating pictures on our easel and writing with different materials.

We have also been very busy in our garden, we have new mats for us to use and explore different activities outside, and we have enjoyed digging for worms and making mud pies! We have also planted peas, carrots and tomatoes in our vegetable patch, which I am sure we will enjoy tasting soon!

Our next theme is all about me and will be exploring our families, favourite activities and our bodies, we will also be beginning our P.E sessions and be practising for our sports day in July, please look out for more information about this on the Purple Room parents board.

Holiday Club

During holiday club this week we have enjoyed lots of different activities. We had a good day making our own clothes out of fabric samples, dressing up and having a fashion show. Some of the children had fun talking and singing into the microphones while the others walked up and down the catwalk. On Thursday we had a trip to Longleat Safari park, we all enjoyed looking at the animals and exploring the adventure play ground. Other activities included cooking, hama beads, building houses with the lego, painting and drawing. The next Holiday Club is looking to be just as busy with lots of different activities and trips out.

Best Wishes

The Bourne Valley Team
